I just finished posting an article entitled "Equal, Not Special" and tried to point out how the Muslim community wants things to go their way. For all their rhetoric about assimilating into new societies, it just doesn't seem to be the case. I have in the meantime run across this letter sent to a local paper. It says volumes. And I will say again that the sooner the Muslims realize they are not the ‘be all to end all', the sooner we'll all get along.

University open to all, not just one religious group
I have been reading about Muslim students complaining that Ontario universities are not doing enough for Muslim students, Windsor Star article "Islamophobia" On Campus, March 22.
Enough already with the complaints. They have made demands at universities all over Ontario and Quebec. What are they complaining about? They want the university to meet their religious criteria, they want rooms set aside for them to pray in five times a day every day.
My question is, shall we make accommodations for all religions or just Muslims? They want halal food in the cafeteria, which is fine with me if the university is also offering kosher meals for Jewish students. Muslims also demand separate swimming for Muslim female students.
To me, a university is a place of learning open to students of all religions and cultures and is a secular institution. I hope our universities and our government will tell them they are living in Canada now and should be willing to live by our laws and customs.

I guess if car bombs, suicide murders and terrorism in general don't work, you can always try dicrimination or racism. Enough already. Let the Muslims join the tour and wake up at least a little bit. To paraphrase Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, "We're not in Tehran, Baghdad, Beirut anymore."

As for shifting any bigotry, did you happen to read the preamble to the article? Maybe you want to read some more of my articles on Muslims. I've always said they are more than welcome. But they should be equal but certainly not special.
