Opinionated Ranter - The Adventures of Being Awesome...

I am but a man trying to live the dream. This is how I see the world...

RATHER MISGUIDED

Has it come down to this? I know the Democrats of the USA want to cut and run from Iraq. I know they believe in ‘time-outs' instead of a swift kick in the rear end. I know they believe that prison rehabilitation actually works. I know more and more each day how misguided they are. But this is beyond comprehension.

They now want a provision in the war funding legislation that earmarks US$74 million for secure peanut storage. Shades of Jimmy Carter. I suppose if they don't get a guarantee that peanuts will be protected, they will cut off funding for all the troops far away making sure they can sleep peacefully at night.

President Bush was right when he said, "I like peanuts as much as the next guy, but I believe the security of our troops should come before the security of our peanut crop."

Hear hear!

And people wonder why the Republicans laugh at the Democrats.

Peanuts, bugs, spinach, billboards, dairies, etc. To the Dems, everything comes before the troops. And they're not even smart enough to be ashamed of themselves....

Sigh! One can always find ways to ridicule the opposition. Mr. Bush is setting up a straw man which can easily be knocked down. The only problem is that he started a war against the wrong country, one that posed no threat to the United States. He has put the entire burden of fighting this war on a relatively few families with sons and daughters in Iraq ( and being put together at places like Walter Reed ), managed to create a horrible budget deficit by giving his supporters tax breaks, and -- after all of this -- finds himself in a civil war with all sides hating our guts.

It may be unrealistic for Democrats to expect a full pull out by a certain date in the near future, but at least they are looking forward,

As to the "everything comes before the troops" nonsense, our troops have been sent into the midst of chaos, with inadequate supplies and armament, poor food supplied by Halliburton and in insufficient numbers.

There are a number of Americans who get their news from Fox News, believe the latest story from Washington with non-skeptical naivety. God bless them and thank the same God that they are diminishing in number.

Excuse me, Jim, but Iraq did have a hand in the terrorist movement. Did they not offer money to families who supplied homicide-bombers? Did they not set up terrorist training camps? Where not the Dems and Reps united in their initial idea of fighting terrorism wherever it raised its ugly head? Being a monday morning quarterback is easy. But when hard decisions have to be made, the guy with the balls makes them. For better or worse. And he has to live with that decision. Sorry, but the waffling of Kerry and Clinton, i.e. "Yes, I voted for that before I voted against it", makes me nervous. You know I live in Canada and the Liberal gov't here so decimated our fighting forces that we rely on you to protect us. I'd rather have Bush than Clinton or Carter looking out for our interests any day. (Either Clinton, by the way) And you mistake me when you say I listen only to Fox news. Number one, I can't even get it here, and number two, I go out of my way to read both liberal and conservative papers. It gives me a wider knowledge of world affairs and, hopefully, makes me a more unbiased commentor.
