Opinionated Ranter - The Adventures of Being Awesome...

I am but a man trying to live the dream. This is how I see the world...

KYOTO VI (cont'd)

I recently wrote my fifth installment of this series and I directed readers to www.nationalpost.com to read a series of articles they had printed under the heading ‘The Deniers'.
This series goes into much more detail about the fallacies of Kyoto than I care to, but suffice it to say that each article revolves around a respected scientist who seems to have been ignored when the politicians and main media report on the effects of global warming.
I've ranted against people like David Suzuki, whom I once had great respect for, and Al Gore, and lumped all those who believe in their ‘the sky is falling' message as people who are basically too lazy to do any research themselves to find out whether the emperor has any clothes or not.

I received a comment from D. Armenta who assures me he is not one of the lazy ones and has thus read the articles. Mr. Armenta says the name ‘The Deniers' is a misnomer as the scientists do not deny that global warming is actually happening. I thought he had a good point, but then I thought about it some more.
No, they are not denying global warming. They are denying that it is happening as fast as Suzuki and Gore would like you to believe. They are denying that mankind is by itself to blame for global warming. They are denying that this is a recent phenomenon which has never been seen before. So I changed my mind and thought the title ‘The Deniers' was apropo.
I am not a learned person and don't pretend to be. But I know how to read newspapers and interpret television news. The article in the National Post, written by Lawrence Solomon, the executive director of Urban Renaissance Institute, a division of Energy Probe Research Foundation, follows the findings of such men as Dr. Edward Wegman, who holds a Ph.D. degree in mathematical statistics from the University of Iowa, Dr. Richard Tol, who earned his Ph.D. in Economics at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, Dr. Christopher Landsea, who received his doctoral degree in atmospheric science from Colorado State University, and Dr. Duncan Wingham, who was educated at Leeds and Bath Universities where he gained a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics, to name but a few. These are your deniers.

The articles written are well worth reading and make one stop and wonder just what kind of wool the politicians are trying to pull over our eyes. It is worrisome that Dr. Suzuki, in a recent article, said, "And it wasn't until global warming started being actually observed by Canadians and reported on by the media consistently and accurately that the environment got back on the agenda." I will agree that the media is consistently reporting on the environment, but I question their accuracy.
As if you aren't sick enough of this impending global warming, I will be blogging more about it as time goes on. I will be referring to the articles publishes by Mr. Solomon and urge you to make up your own mind.
I'd like to thank D. Armenta for making me think a bit deeper on this subject so that I might present a plausible argument to all the chicken littles out their that feel we are facing certain destruction.

Great Blog, Youranter, as always. I can't understand how any reputable scientist could support Gore or Kyoto. It's baffling... But at least there are some now who can tell the truth and stop the scare tactics to get their candidate elected.

I keep hearing on the radio, all over the country, about global warming and which politician is going to fix it. When I'm home I watch Fox News Channel and hear interviews with scientists who know better. Why aren't there more radio stations with brains?
