FREE SPEECH
You know, just when you think the likes of Sheehan and Loney are consigned to the footnotes of history, along comes another rabble rouser. In this case, it is Malik Zulu Shabazz, current leader of the New Black Panthers. Actually, it is not him so much as he was barred from entering Canada to speak at a rally in Toronto. It is his followers who need to give their heads a good, hard shake. To be blunt, his followers are a bunch of whining, ungrateful, big mouthed assholes. Believe me, that doesn't put too fine an edge on it.
But it's what freedom of speech allows you to do. These idiots wanted to hear the words of Shabazz and follow in his misbegotten footsteps. When they learned that he was denied access to Canada, they decided it was because of a racial issue. He was denied entry because of a "misdemeanour" on his record "five years ago". Not sure of what the "misdemeanour" actually was, the Black Youth Taking Action group promised to pack the lawn at Queen's Park and then move on to have believers stuffed to the rafters at Ryerson, all the while spewing hate filled, racist remarks.
It's a "Jewish conspiracy," was one of the many anti-Semitic slurs. It's the result of "white supremacy," was another common theme. They are "enslaved by the enslavers' children" and "to hell with diversity." A group claiming to be running an Education not Incarceration campaign came up with "we are not on the plantation any more" and "today you speak the language of your colonizers" plus "wake up people they are trying to kill you." This combined group of haters didn't need Shabazz to stir up some controversy, that's for sure.
Nkem Anizor, who described herself as president of this unknown group and as an "anti- Zionist," called Canada "white supremacist" but didn't answer when asked if she was black supremacist. She had her martyr in Shabazz and had no intention of letting go of him. Luckily for her, she has the right to mouth off here in Canada. I'm sure there are plenty of people who wouldn't take too kindly to her insults.
People like our veterans who died to keep the freedom of speech right she so enjoys. The soldiers of today who are doing the same thing. In some countries she might not be able to say some of the stuff said by this black activist mob. Our veterans fought and died to make this one of the greatest country in the world, where anything you want to access or achieve is there for you. Or you can blame everybody else for your shortcomings and lack of success. And that is exactly what the anti-Semitic, anti-white and anti-police Shabazz does. His no-show gave the locals a chance to replace his drivel with local versions of hate, and they were loud. Thankfully, nobody was listening, except the media, who almost outnumbered the so-called anti-Canada protesters.
Saner heads did try to prevail though. "It serves only as a divisive force limiting our effectiveness to fight the real and pressing issues of systemic racism, black on black violence, and the lack of economic opportunities plaguing the black community," said Rev. Don Meredith of the GTA Faith Alliance in a statement put out by B'nai Brith Canada. "As responsible black community leaders we join with B'nai Brith in urging our federal and provincial leaders to work in tandem to ensure New Black Panther leader Malik Zulu Shabazz does not have opportunity to spew hatred in Canada." Other leaders like Leo Adler of the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre and Frank Dimant of B'nai Brith expressed not only outrage but also offered great support and assistance to people of all colours, races and religions here.
There are many people who can't recognize hate speech or literature when they come across it. If you happen to disagree with their point of view, they will accuse you of spreading hate. Mainstream media is dominated by liberalist ideology and if someone happens to watch or read a dissenting program or paper, they automatically 1) don't know what they're talking about and 2) are helping to spread hate. I don't get Fox news but have been accused more than once of using it as a source for some articles. As often as I have denied this, it falls on deaf ears. I try to read both liberal and conservative papers to form an intelligent opinion. I do listen to radio talk shows, which happen to be on the conservative side, but these are hardly mainstream media.
Many writers, no matter how often they say that they are not targeting a particular religion, but rather a fundamentalist sect of it, can't seem to get that fact across to the deniers. Christendom, Judaism, Islam all have their whackos to contend with. No one who subscribes to any particular religion is proud of them, but they are there just the same and carry out dastardly deeds in the name of that religion. Today, it happens to be Muslims who murder innocent people without so much as a second thought. Muslims happen to adhere to Islam so it is not a great leap to substitute the word Islamic for Muslim. But the peaceful Muslims take great umbridge at this and claim any words written about terrorists are words written directly against them. Hardly. Try as hard as you might to make them see a difference and again, it falls on deaf ears.
About the non-arrival of her invited speaker Shabazz, Anizor said, "What is to blame is the power of the Jewish lobby to influence politicians, to influence media." That is wrong and it is hateful. Reporting facts of Muslim terrorism, which both the right and left wing agree upon, is neither wrong nor hateful. But some people just can't reconcile themselves to that. They have to attack the messenger and more often than not, it is merely childish name-calling that is the best they can come up with. That too is neither wrong nor hateful, merely immature.
It would certainly be nice if people knew not only how to read but also comprehend what they read before they start commenting and accuse writers of ludicrous charges. True hate and bigotry was expressed by those who held the rally in Toronto. They owe a great deal to our veterans for giving them the right to spout off. In some countries they would be lucky to escape with a jail sentence. In some countries they would be put to death.
I can't say I've seen anything on this site that would constitute hatred toward any religion or group. Well, except for one commenter who accused a writer of, among other things, being a sociopath, but there always be that lunatic fringe we all have to deal with.
Please learn the difference between hate and opinion before you comment. It would make things so much nicer. Disagree if you want, it will be welcomed by any author I've read. It might just lead to intelligent debate rather than the sniping that goes on here and on other sites.

I can sympathize, Ranter, about some who don't bother reading the whole article and take a line out of context, and then proceed to attack..it's one of my pet peeves.
Human nature being what it is, though, many people tend to skim articles rather than read them in-depth, which is why
I write short paragraphs and doublespace between them, like Kurt Vonnegut used to do
because it makes the text easier to read and concentrate on. It helps a bit ; )
